About Abe Farm
Abe Farm is located in Ajimu, Usa City, Oita Prefecture, in northern Kyushu. It is about a 40-minute drive from Beppu and Yufuin. Just seven minutes from the nearest expressway interchange and close to the Kunisaki Peninsula, Abe Farm is conveniently located for exploring the surrounding area.
Abe Farm is a small, family-run guesthouse in a traditional Japanese farmhouse. Our family works together to offer guests a relaxing stay where they can experience the simple, authentic rhythms of life in the Japanese countryside.
We can also communicate in English and have welcomed guests from the UK, the Netherlands, France, Norway, and other countries.
Stay
We welcome only one group per day, allowing you to fully enjoy the peaceful and unhurried pace of life in Ajimu. The entire spacious second floor (approximately 50 m², fully air-conditioned and heated) is reserved exclusively for our guests.
You are also welcome to use the kitchen on the first floor, equipped with a gas stove, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, dishes, and other basic kitchenware. High-speed Wi-Fi is available throughout the property, making it suitable for remote work as well. There are also two modern toilets in the house.
- Several hot springs are located within a 10-minute drive. Some offer private family baths (reservation required), where you can relax and enjoy a peaceful soak.

- You are also welcome to use the bathroom in the guesthouse.
- Parking is available for 3–4 cars.
- We can accommodate up to approximately 10 guests.
- Bath towels and face towels are provided free of charge.
- Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap, and a hair dryer are provided.
- Please bring your own toothbrush and sleepwear.
- Guests usually sleep on traditional Japanese futons laid out on tatami mats. If you strongly prefer a bed, please let us know in advance.

About Your Hosts
At Abe Farm, our family welcomes you. Here are the family members you’ll meet during your stay.
Farm Manager: Toru (Father)
Toru is our cheerful farm manager who loves working in the fields and spending time with children. Born and raised in Ajimu, he worked hard while raising three sons. After retiring at the age of 65, he returned to his hometown and began a new life as a farmer.
With patience and care, Toru brought abandoned farmland back to life, little by little. Today, he looks after fields covering an area of about 1.5 soccer fields, including a yuzu orchard, and grows around 60 varieties of fresh vegetables throughout the year.
For Toru, farming is about more than growing vegetables. He loves sharing the joy of harvesting, eating together, and spending time in nature with our guests. If you visit Abe Farm, you may find yourself picking vegetables with him, learning about the fields, or simply enjoying a friendly chat.
Cooking & Hospitality: Kumiko (Mother)
Kumiko loves cooking and keeping the house clean, and nothing is more important to her than the health and well-being of her family. Born and raised in Usa City, she worked as a nurse for more than 30 years while raising three children.
She loves sharing the flavors of the countryside with our guests and hopes everyone who visits can enjoy delicious, home-cooked meals. She continues to put her heart into improving her cooking and creating warm, comforting dishes for family and guests alike.
Guesthouse & Experiences: Daisuke
Daisuke is the second of three sons and has always loved traveling. He has backpacked around the world, cycled across Japan from north to south, and traveled around the entire country in a small Japanese kei truck. He also spent 12 years working as a journalist for Nikkei in Tokyo.
Today, he runs Abe Farm Bettei, our guesthouse in a 158-year-old traditional Japanese farmhouse.
As the person overseeing Abe Farm, Daisuke works together with local people and many others to help bring new energy to Ajimu, one step at a time.

1 guest: ¥11,000
2 guests: ¥9,800 per person
3 or more guests: ¥8,800 per person
Elementary school children: 50% of the adult rate. Preschool children sharing a futon with an adult stay free of charge.
Satoyama Home-Cooking Experience (Dinner & Breakfast, Tax Not Included)
Accommodation fee + ¥4,800 per person

Access
The nearest train stations are JR Usa Station and JR Yanagigaura Station. Rental cars are available near the stations. If you need a pick-up or drop-off service, please feel free to contact us.
There is also a bus from JR Nakatsu Station to Ajimu Branch Office (Ajimu Shisho). The journey takes approximately 65 minutes.
